How to upload a prescription

Watch the video- How to order prescribed medication from Animed Direct

Step 1

Ask your vet for your pet’s prescription.

Step 2

Register your pet’s details. We have to match any medication with the correct animal. If you have multiple pets you’ll be ordering for, you’ll need to register all of them. You can register your pet via the ‘My Account’ within the ‘My Animals’ section located at the top of our website. You can find a step-by-step guide on how to register your pet here.

Step 3

Order your medication.

Step 4

Send us your prescription. Make sure it is valid and all information is correct. If it’s not in date, or there are errors, we can’t process your order.

There are three ways you can do this:

Post: Write your order number on the top of your prescription and send it to: Prescription, Animed Direct Ltd, CVS House, Owen Road, Diss, Norfolk, IP22 4ER

Upload: Scan or photograph your prescription and upload it with your order. If you have multiple prescriptions, please upload separate images of each one to ensure we can process your order as quickly as possible. Please ensure your photographs are nice and clear. If we can’t read it, we can’t process it.

Email: Write your order number and attach an image of your prescription and email it to prescriptions@animeddirect.co.uk. If you are uploading more than one prescription, please send them as individual images to avoid any delays with processing your order.

We also accept prescriptions sent via Fax. Write your order number on top of your prescription and fax it to 01379 770107

Please note, you will need to check with your vet if your prescription is for a Controlled Drug. The Controlled Drugs that we stock are Epiphen, Phenobarbital, Tramadol, Epirepress, Soliphen, Epityl, Tralieve, Tramvetol and Gabapentin and will be clearly labelled on the product pages. If it is, you will need to post your original prescription to us. Your vet may also stipulate that the original prescription is needed for other types of prescription medication. We are unable to accept copies of these and if this is the case we cannot accept a scan, fax or photo of your prescription.

If your prescription is for several different items and one of them is an item we do not stock, you will need to obtain that item at a different veterinary medicines retailer. We request that you post us your original prescription so that we can mark off what we have supplied for the information of the other veterinary medicines retailer and return it to you so that you can then use it to obtain the item we do not stock.

Here you will be prompted to upload your prescription or select another form of sending your prescription to us. You can select, email, post or fax. The easiest and most efficient way to do this is to use our easy upload system.

Top Tips for a smooth process

Remember a prescription has an expiry date

By law the maximum validity of a prescription is 6 months, but your vet practice may stipulate a shorter validity so you’ll need to return to your vet for a new, valid one and pay again once it has expired, or the allocation on your prescription has been ordered in full. Prescriptions for Controlled Drugs are only valid for 28 days from the date of issue.

Pets on long term medication

Vets can write repeat prescriptions to be used a number of times over 6 months (or less depending on the validity stated), saving you time and money. However repeats are not valid on Controlled Drug prescriptions and will not be accepted.

Don’t leave it until the last day of your prescription’s validity before ordering

If we receive orders on the last day of the prescription’s date, our system stops the order and our vet team have to manually check it is ok to release it. For less delay, order a few days before the date expires.
