Unlike tweezers, the tick hook doesn't squeeze the abdomen of the tick during removal and by twisting the tick (do not pull) there is less chance of leaving the rostrum (mouthparts) in the skin.

Choose the most suitable hook according to the size of the tick and then engage the hook by approaching the tick from the side until it is held. Lift the hook very lightly and turn it. The tick should detach itself after 2 or 3 rotations.
