Panacur Equine Oral Paste 24g

Panacur Equine Oral Paste 18.75% is a broad spectrum anthelmintic for the treatment and control of adult and immature roundworms of the gastro-intestinal tract in horses and other equines. Panacur also has an ovicidal effect on nematode eggs.

Panacur Equine Oral Paste 18.75% effectively treats and control the following roundworm infections:

  • Large strongyles (adults and migrating larval stages of Strongylus vulgaris; adults and tissue larval stages of S. edentatus).
  • Benzimidazole susceptible adult and immature small strongyles (Cyathostomes) including encysted mucosal 3rd and 4th stage larvae
  • It is also effective against inhibited 3rd stage larvae (encysted) in the mucosa.
  • Adult and immature Oxyuris spp., Strongyloides spp. and Parascaris equorum.
  • Panacur also has an ovicidal effect on nematode eggs.

Panacur Equine Oral Paste 18.75% is a ready to administer, oral paste wormer for horses and other equines. Each 24g syringe contains 4.5 g fenbendazole and 0.2% Apple and Cinnamon flavour. Panacur Equine Oral Paste may be mixed with your horses food or syringed directly into the horses mouth.

All horses must be registered as individuals.

You should carefully read all product labelling and packaging prior to use.

Administer orally by squeezing the paste from the syringe onto the back of the tongue. No dietary control is required before or after treatment. Administer one syringe per 600kg bodyweight

Assess bodyweight accurately before calculating the dosage. The use of a weigh band is recommended.

For routine treatment:

  • Up to 100kg e.g. Miniature ponies: Syringe mark 100 kg
  • 101-300kg e.g. Donkey, Shetland and other small ponies, foals: Syringe mark 300kg (half a syringe)
  • 301-400kg e.g. Dartmoor, New Forest, Welsh etc.: Syringe mark 400kg
  • 401-500kg e.g. Light hunter, Arabs etc.: Syringe mark 500kg
  • 501-600kg e.g. Thoroughbreds: 1 syringe
  • 601kg and over e.g. Heavy hunters, draught horses: 1 syringe + additional 100kg syringe marks for each extra 100kg bodyweight

Pregnant mares and foals may be safely treated with Panacur at therapeutic dosage levels.

Increased dosing for specific infections

Five day course

For the treatment and control of migrating larval stages of large strongyles and encysted mucosal 3rd and 4rd stage stage larvae and inhibited 3rd stage small strongyle larvae (encysted) in the mucosa, administer one syringe per 600kg bodyweight daily for 5 days.

Single dose treatments

For the treatment and control of encysted mucosal stages of small strongyles, administer one syringe per 150kg bodyweight.

For the treatment and control of migrating stages of large strongyles, administer one syringe per 75kg bodyweight.

For the treatment and control of Strongyloids westeri in sucking foals administer one syringe per 90kg bodyweight.

Dosing programmes:

It is recommended that horses and ponies are routinely wormed with the single dose of Panacur Equine Oral Paste up to every six to eight weeks during the grazing season, depending on their individual requirements.

Seek veterinary advice for appropriate monitoring, stock management and dosing programmes to allow optimum endoparasite control.

All new horses whose worming history is unknown should also be treated with the 5 day Panacur dose.

Pregnant mares and foals may also be safely treated with Panacur at recommended dosage levels.
