Amazing real life stories

At Animed Dire10530781_10152207428786611_2928281062320345060_nct we often have customers contact us about how their pets have helped changed their lives, and in some case save their lives.

Read Sarah and Taz’s story, which is one of undying friendship and motivation to lose weight for a healthier life.

“Three years ago I was in a totally different place. I was overweight and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. The doctors told that if I lost weight I could reverse the symptoms, I had a lifeline. I chose not to go it alone and joined Slimming World to help with my diet, while Taz, my wonderful dog gave me the motivation and support when exercising.”

“Taz loved going for a walk, and eventually a run, and was a great companion when times were tough. Like many dog owners, although I took her for a walk, she often dictates where we go and often she would take me on more adventurous pathways. As my health and fitness improved I managed to complete a 5k Race for Life together with my local Slimming World Group. If it hadn’t been for Taz, I wouldn’t have been so motivated to practice for the event.”

Before diet“With Taz’s help and Slimming World support I lost over 9 stone, reversing my diabetes, and have now maintained my weight for over 2 years.

“Since being diagnosed with osteoarthritis I had to stop running and have slowly built up my walking again with Taz. Getting out for morning walks has been a great way to keep the weight off and she loves exploring around my local area. Having her keeping me company on my training walks means that I can go further and further and my knees are slowly getting stronger. When it is warmer I try to get out early so she doesn’t overheat in the mid-day sun. I must admit she is a bit of a princess and she hates the rain and cold so I’m going to be investing in a coat for her for the winter.”

“Every night I have to do leg stretches and strengthening exercises for my knees and Taz see’s this as a great time to play. Every evening she brings her balls to me thinking that because Mummy is sitting on the floor it is play time.”

Rosemary“My next big challenge is walking Hadrian’s Wall in May 2017, in memory of my mum, Rosemary, who passed away with Ovarian Cancer in March 2016. Taz won’t be coming with me to Hadrian’s Wall, but she loves every second of my training.”

If you would like to support Sarah on her charity walk for Cancer Research UK, in honour of my Mum Rosemary, who passed away from Ovarian Cancer in March this year, please donate via her Just Giving Page.
